This small municipality located in the south of Madrid and near Aranjuez, was declared a place of historical interest in 1974. Its origin dates back to the Middle Ages when the castle was built in Renaissance style.
Its singular irregularly-shaped main square has been the scene of multiple events such as royal festivals, theatre and bullfights. These last ones are still celebrated with great popularity. The church of the Assumption preserves Goya's painting "The Assumption of the Virgin".
